Xion’s beverage-can sieve keeps insects out

German manufacturer Xion wants to take the potential sting out of beverages. Its anti-insect sieve prevents thirsty bees and wasps from entering a drink can. The specially-formed piece of tin fits over the opening of the can, and can be fixed to the opening ring by means of a rivet during the production process.

Xion says the sieve openings are variable and large enough to let drink contents flow out, but are small enough to prevent insects from getting into the can and stinging consumers.
