Symrise expands CSR activities

Symrise has recently published a corporate social responsibility (CSR) report entitled Perspectives 2010. Since 2006, the company has been documenting its CSR goals and activities on an annual basis. The new report shows that Symrise has continued to expand in its CSR activities with documentation, reports and interviews with executives, as well as information about the implementation of its CSR strategy. In order to increase transparency and enable direct comparison, the report follows the internationally recognized guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) closely.

For the first time, Symrise has published CSR goals that extend through 2020. The company has defined four fields in which it is acting on its commitment to sustainability: Caring for Nature (environment), Respecting People (employees), Serving Society (society) and Securing Success (business practices). "Our concrete goals include cutting emissions, sustainable and responsible procurement of raw materials, and taking increased responsibility for employees and the community" says Dr. Helmut Frieden, VP of Corporate Compliance. According to the report, the company in 2010 cut its CO2 emissions and energy consumption per item sold by more than 24% compared to 2005.
