Spiral Foods recalls Bonsoy soy milk

Australia-based Spiral Foods has voluntarily recalled Bonsoy soy milk regardless of date.

The company says testing has indicated higher than normal levels of iodine present that may result in some people feeling unwell.

The company voluntarily initiated this recall after having been told by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) that seven or eight people were “diagnosed with thyroid conditions”, plus one newborn with hypothyroidism.

However, there was lack of evidence showing that this group of people consumed Bonsoy, that the evidence of Bonsoy consumption is not anecdotal and that the consumption caused their “condition”.
