Show Peview - A New World of Halal

World of Halal will be held in conjunction with Thaifex – World of Food Asia from May 12 to 16 May next year 2010 in Bangkok, Thailand. Show organizer Koelnmesse says the exhibition will cover aspects of the industry such as food and beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, tourism and hospitality, logistics, food technology and catering. There will also be a regional three-day Halal conference and a chef competition showcasing the internationality of the Halal cuisine.

Halal goods and services are currently valued at $1.323 trillion in global food value. Southeast Asia is becoming an important and competitive regional market for Halal products, in view of the fast developing Halal food production and progress on Halal certifi cation and a consumer market of 225 million Muslims.

The global Muslim population is currently at about 1.8 billion people. It is growing at 2.9% and is expected to account for 30% of the world’s population by 2025. This could result in Halal food being worth 20% of the total world food trade in the future. In particular, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, China, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and West Asia have a collective Muslim population of approximately 1 billion.
