SCA prioritizes corrugated board in China

SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) is building two new corrugated-board plants in China. As part of its two-pronged strategy to tap into Asia and Eastern Europe, SCA's packaging operations in Nanjing will be moved nearby to a newly-built factory. The $12 million, 30,000-square meter facility will help increase production capacity.

A new packaging plant in Suzhou, close to Shanghai, was inaugurated in mid-April 2007. The $20 million plant will offer both litho-print and protective packaging.

“This new state-of-the-art SCA packaging facility will provide a strategic platform for SCA’s continuous growth in China. We are also prepared for future expansion as SCA’s packaging operations in the Suzhou region grow,” explains Rijk Schipper, head of the Asia Pacific business group with operations in packaging, tissue and personal care.
