KHS’s ‘Entry Capacity Range’ Roll-Fed Labeller

KHS says its entry-capacity Innoket RFL can apply wrap-around labels to plastic and glass bottles as well as it does for cans, at speeds of up to 12,000 containers per hour. Tear-n-Sip AquaFlexCan

People in Asia are used to drinking from plastic bags and now an Australian packaging company Amcor seems to be following the trend. Its AquaFlexCan is no can for sure but a pouchlike beverage pack that the firm says is the first non-spill flexible beverage pack for water and other still beverages. The AquaFlexCan has a Tear-n-Sip mouthpiece that allows user to tear off and drink directly from the pack. A special seal geometry controls the liquid flow and limits spills if the pack falls over. The firm believes the pack’s barrier properties, which have been chemical and organoleptic certified, makes its shelf life comparable to rigid containers.

Thumbs Up From Bericap

Bericap’s THUMB’UP flip-top closure is for beverage firms who want to make their bottles easier to open for children, but worry about security for their product. The THUMB’UP cap has a hinge between its overcap and base to withstand several elongations and twists. It also has a front tear-off band to discourage tampering. Bericap says the design has been designed for aseptic filling systems that use online chemical treatment of closures. This avoids ‘complex and expensive’ irradiation. No aluminium foil is needed. The two-part design can be made in many combinations of colours—something marketing departments might like. The THUMB’UP range fits bottlenecks that are 26.7mm, 28mm, 30mm or 38mm in diameter. Nestlé is using it for water in Europe.
