New hose for wineries

Trelleborg Engineered Systems has developed Vinitrell, a hose that reportedly offers benefits of a natural rubber product, while its polymer coating allows it to move within the confined spaces of wineries as easily as a PVC hose.

"Rubber hoses have significant advantages over PVC products," says Christine Dhiersat, product manager for performance hoses.

"These are the maintenance of pressure and flexibility over the whole of their operating temperature range and absorption of impact. Their disadvantage is that they are heavy and difficult to maneuver within wineries.”

“Many wines in Bordeaux, Champagne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Rioja and Ribera Del Duero areas are already flowing freely through Vinitrell hoses."

Vinitrell is manufactured from food-grade white natural rubber tube that is compliant to European and US standards, including FDA and the French Institute of Poitiers (IANESCO).

Its polymer-based coating features friction characteristics, facilitating ease of movement.

With operating temperatures from -30°C to 80°C it is unaffected by fluctuations in these and is resistant to steam cleaning up to 110°C for a up to 10 minutes.

It works well under 10 bar/145 psi with bursting pressure of 30 bar/435 psi and a maximum vacuum of 0.9 bar/13 psi.

It is also capable of withstanding most common cleaning media and contains no phthalate.

Vinitrell is available with inside diameters from 38mm to 75mm / 1.5in to 3in and in standard lengths of 20m and 40m / 65ft and 131ft.

It can also be supplied with Trelleborg's fitting system to fit all common connections and ensure full hygiene.
