Krones ups efficiency in Spanish water company

Krones has supplied Spanish water company Solán de Cabras a fast-running line that is rated at 28,800 1.5-litre containers an hour, corresponding to 43,200 liters an hour. The new Krones line also handles the 2.0-litre container.

The blow-molder/filler BLOC, comprising a Contiform S18 and a Volumetic filler, is installed in a clean room with an existing blow-molder for a second line. The filled containers are inspected for correct fill level by a Checkmat 707 system that is linked to an accutable buffering system. For sleeving, Krones installed a steel platform at a height of four meters, integrating three linear machines (contributed by the sleeving film supplier). The ratio between the outer radius and the closure radius of the containers exceeds the maximum 70% shrinkability, as guaranteed by the film manufacturer.

The intermediate level accommodates the downstream dynamic mass buffering section. This is followed by container orientation on the “short-side-leading” principle. The containers are distributed among six parallel lanes, and packed simultaneously by a Variopac Pro packer into two 2x3-bottle shrink-packs. A downstream handle applicator is the final station on the raised platform. The packs are then passed to the high-level infeed of the Pressant Universal palletizer and later lowers the packs to ground level.
