Japan Application Consortium to develop RFID standard

Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ), Comware (NTT Comware), Oracle Japan and VeriSign Japan—the new Japan Application Consortium—are collaborating to develop a common RFID standard. This will be used in an international logistics pilot project conducted by EPCglobal, the international RFID standards group, in January 2007.

International logistics is the backbone of global supply chains; and logistics service providers handle huge information with a multitude of customers located throughout the world. The result has been a complex system whose costs grow annually.
