GEA Niro features drying, spraying technologies in Germany

GEA Niro will be represented at Powtech, the international trade fair for mechanical processing technologies and instrumentation in Nuremberg, Germany, from October 11 to 13, 2011.

The company will showcase technologies in the field of spray, freeze, and fluid bed drying for the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, as well as chemical industries.

The monitoring system for spray dryers, Sprayeye, enables new equipment with infra-red cameras to be linked to an early warning system that makes it possible to detect dangerously high temperature increases in the powder within the spray dryer before it would be visible to the naked eye using a normal camera.

The new cameras make the monitoring of the spray drying process easier and safer without having an operator to watch the monitor for abnormalities.

The company will feature Mobile Minor, a spray dryer technology for drying small quantities of solutions, suspensions or emulsions into representative powder samples.

Test results from the technology provide information for establishing process data for commercial production.

The models are available for both aqueous and solvent-based feedstock.

As different atomization techniques apply various energy forms to the liquid feed, the

Mobile Minor offers three atomization modes to ensure the solution that is best-suited to the task.
