Drought affects China’s grains yield
The price of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and others dropped this year, hence the cost of planting grain generally declined, according to the Report on analysis and forecast of the grain market in China (2009-2010) by Research and Markets.
The year has also seen drought to reduce corn and barley yield, and slower rice and wheat yield.
China's grain import volume increased substantially due to sharp decline in international grain prices.
Wheat and corn prices in the same year rose substantially as result of the State purchasing reserves.
