Company receives food safety certifications

Global Closure Systems (GCS) says its Asian plants have successfully extended their range of international standards to food safety, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP). With three out of 26 global manufacturing sites located in China, Thailand and Philippines, GCS produces more than 1.5 billion caps annually across Asia. The factories manufacture snap-hinge closures under GCS’ Zeller Plastik brand and screw-on plastic closures for beverages under the Obrist brand. Both the Obrist Thailand and Zeller Plastik Shanghai facilities have fully satisfied requirements set down in 2008 by the certification bodies for food safety. The plant in Thailand is the first within the GCS group of factories to be awarded the ISO 22000 certification. Zeller Plastik Shanghai is also one of the selected few in the industry to receive the quality safety (QS) certification for food safety in China. The third facility, Zeller Plastik Philippines, continues to exercise high standards in GMP and is implementing HACCP prior to its expansion into the food and beverage markets.
