Coloring PET bottles safely

The functional chemicals business unit of specialty chemicals company Lanxess launches Macrolex Red 5B, Violet 3R and Blue 2B for use during the polymerization process to produce a crystal clear colorless or blue tinged transparent PET. The dyes do not migrate from the PET into the liquid and the range has been approved for food packaging and food contact applications by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Macrolex dyes are available in a variety of delivery forms such as microgranules. Being hollow spheres, the microgranules are crushed easily and dissolve rapidly and evenly in plastic.
