Cognis presents Newtrition concept at HiE 2010
At this year's Health Ingredients Europe (HiE) in Madrid, Spain, the Cognis Nutrition & Health team presented new products and well-being concepts aligned to the company's 'Newtrition - Eat, Feel, Live' strategy.
Developed in support of the wellness megatrend, the Newtrition is modern nutrition with a feel-good factor: putting the well-being benefits consumers want into food, beverage and dietary supplement products.
Each product and concept on display aims to give brands a competitive edge, while delivering a well-being experience to the consumer.
The 'Fitness for fun' joins vitality, protection, joy/pleasure, inner balance and beauty in Newtrition.
The new benefit aligns fitness for fun with products that taste good, feel good, and contain some of Cognis' leading brands.
The company has also added superfruit pomegranate and acerola to the Plantalin range of high quality plant extracts.
"Acerola is considered to be one of the richest sources of vitamin C, containing about 1% to 4.5% Vitamin C compared, for example, to peeled oranges that contain about 0.05%," said Maria Jose Guerrero, global product line manager.
"Pomegranate has had a meteoric rise in popularity in recent years and its status as superfruit is more than justified because of its natural richness in unique antioxidants."
The new Plantalin Acerola and Plantalin Pomegranate join Aloe Vera, Ginseng, Guarana and Lemon Balm to bring the range to six products.
They are water-soluble and easy to use and are extracted with water so that the actives provided are similar to those obtained when tea is brewed and consumed in the traditional way.
