Bosch expands in India
In its efforts to build up its new plant in Goa, India, Bosch Packaging Technology has acquired 33,000 sqm of land in Verna Industrial Estate.
The Packaging Division of Bosch started its Indian operations in Bangalore in 1995 and moved to Goa in December 2007.
"The investment of 250 million rupees in the plant and machinery will further strengthen our future plans and leadership position in all the three business verticals, viz, pharma, confectionery and packaging machines. We aim to have a fully functional plant by the end of 2012," says V.K Viswanathan, MD of Bosch India.
By 2013, the division will see an increase in the production capacity of the plant and its employees.
"We have a strong market position in the emerging markets such as India and to cater to the rising demands we are looking into the expansion of the existing portfolio. This approach has not only brought us close to our customers but has also helped us develop confidence in them. Today, India is the hub for SAARC - countries, Middle East and Africa," Friedbert Klefenz, president of Bosch Packaging Technology.
India has witnessed substantial growth in FMCG, food and beverage as well as the pharmaceutical industry, which in turn, has stimulated the demand for packaging machines.
"The demand for packaging machines is expected to grow by 10%, per annum," added Ashok Gourish, business head, Bosch Packaging Technology, India.
