BASF exhibits at Fruit Logistica 2007
Visitors to Fruit Logistica 2007 will see BASF’s latest solutions for products for post-harvest processing, packaging and logistics associated with the production of fruit and vegetables.
BASF’s Ecological Efficiency Analysis is a tool that compares production concepts by economy and sustainability. The company says the product analyzes economic and environmental impacts on the final customer.
The company says its FreshSeal coating is a post-harvest treatment that controls respiration, renders fruit and vegetables less perishable, and prolongs shelf-life. FreshSeal can reportedly reduce the use of wax and various protective coverings.
Also its Ecoflex and Ecovio products were developed specifically for applications in the field of flexible films. These films are biodegradable, opening new prospects for the dealing with packaging material. Films of Ecoflex, for example, are used in the mulching of corn, lettuce and strawberries as well as in packaging fast foods.
Fruit Logistica—the trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing—will take place 8-10 February 2007.
