Awards show industry pushing holographic boundaries

The International Hologram Manufacturers Association’s (IHMA) Excellence in Holography Awards has shown how innovation continues to push the boundaries for new holographic applications.

Organized by the IHMA, the 17th annual Excellence in Holography Awards sponsored by industry newsletter Holography News recognizes outstanding industry success and achievement.

This year’s awards were presented at the annual holography conference Holopack•Holoprint in Budapest, Hungary last month.

They recognize outstanding industry achievement and are presented to organizations who have introduced the most innovative or commercially viable hologram product or technique over the year.

Holostik India won the Innovation in Holographic Production category with its technique of using low optical density (OD) metalizing on holographic embossing without touching the sealing side of PVC, enabling blister packs to be produced with the hologram on the blister side, which won the ‘Innovation in Holographic Production’ category.

This hologram for blister packaging does not require changes to the set up of existing packaging machines.

Metalizing also enhances the barrier property of PVC blister film while a high temperature scratch proof coating on the hologram, which can be transparent or colored, was also praised for its technical excellence.
