Automated salmon processing in Hong Kong

Hong Kong-based seafood company Guide A-Way International Food and German Baader Group have established a fully automated salmon processing line in Hong Kong.

The processing plant is said to exceed the international safety and hygiene standards.

Guide a-way was even selected as official supplier of salmon to the Olympic Games 2008 and the Paralympics.

Says Marc Schlichte, sales representative for the Baader Group in Asia: “The rising demand for healthy and safe seafood seems worth the investment in modern processing lines. It allows you to stand out from the competitors by much better quality.”

In general, many consumers feel suspicious about seafood as well as other fresh food because of repeating stories about diseases or bacteria contamination.

Especially in the seafood sector, most companies in Asia still employ manual work force for the processing which might be cheaper but implies higher risk of contamination and pollution.

Automation of the processing lines lowers these risks notably and assures a constant high quality.
