Asia Pacific Breweries buys Quang Nam Brewery in Vietnam

Asia Pacific Breweries has bought a fifth brewery in Vietnam—one of its best performing markets. The purchase of its second brewery in Central Vietnam—Quang Nam Brewery (QNB) is part of a long-term move to secure a bigger market share. The company says it intends to upgrade and expand the brewery's production capacity and will initially be involved in the production, marketing and distribution of "Larger" and "Larue" beer brands.

Located in Dien Ban district, QNB is the sole brewer in Quang Nam Province which is situated southwest of Da Nang Municipality, and has an annual production capacity of 250,000 hectoliters.

With the acquisition of QNB, APB will have five breweries in Vietnam with a combined total annual production capacity of 3.95 million hectoliters. The total beer market in Vietnam is estimated to be in excess of 15 million hectoliters a year.

“Central Vietnam provides a strategic launch pad for the continuing enlargement of the mainstream brands of QNB and the Da Nang brewery, namely, the ‘Larger’ and ‘Biere Larue’ brands respectively, says Tiong Koh Poh, CEO, APB.
