India’s beverage industry poses more potential than China

Dated: 1 October 2008

From November 27 to 28, Munich International Trade Fairs will be holding its second "drink technology India" conference in Mumbai.

The conference is supported by the German Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association.

The company’s exhibition director Petra Westphal says India’s beverage industry offers the greatest potential, even more so than China.

India currently accounts for about 10% of the global beverage consumption, making beverage consumption in the country the third-largest in the world, after the US and China.

“Given its size, the Indian market is still in its infancy. Beverage manufacturers must invest in plants and equipment to capitalize on future growth."

The event, which is to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, consists of a conference, an exhibitor forum and an exhibition.

The conference will provide delegates with market information and trends such as PET, beer, fruit juices and milk, with an emphasis on specifi c developments in India.

The exhibitor forum will showcase solutions and technologies such as water treatment, brewing technology, stretch-blow molding, perform manufacturing and caps and closures.

Exhibiting companies, which are mainly from Europe, will also take part in planned excursions to Indian beverage facilities for more insight into the industry.
