Rockwell Automation hosts 17th annual automation fair event

In the tradition of providing free educational opportunities for customers, Rockwell Automation will host the 17th annual Automation Fair event.

More than 100 exhibitors and thousands of attendees from around the world are expected to explore the exhibits, and attend technical sessions, hands-on labs and industry forums.

The fair will be held from November 18-20, 2008, in Gaylord Opryland Complex Nashville, Tenn., US.

Online registration opens on August 1 at www.automationfair.com.

  More customers, less margin for Ahold

Price promotions and the decision to only partially pass on food price inflation to customers have led to a downturn in second quarter margins for Ahold. Net sales for second quarter 2008 were EUR 5.8 billion, down 0.8% from the same period last year. At constant exchange rates, net sales increased by 7.3%.

  Diageo enjoys rise in drink sales

Despite the credit crunch, drinks giant, Diageo reports another year of strong organic growth with net sales up 7% and operating profit up 9%. Sales rose to £8.09bn up from £7.48bn last year while sales volumes increased by about 3%.

  Fresh & Easy's 3 millionth store brand item

Store brands account for 75% of Fresh & Easy sales. The Tesco-owned Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has now produced its 3 millionth product - a 17-ounce package of store brand mashed potatoes - and plans to add over 250 new Fresh & Easy brand products to its stores over the next several months.
