Maintenance costs for tomato washing installations reduced
Dated: 1 May 2008
To reduce maintenance costs, ARP installed its first Intralox Abrasion Resistant System inclined conveyor solution for its primary and secondary tomato washing installations in 2006. Highly satisfied with the results, ARP went ahead to install a second system on a particularly extreme inclined conveyor in 2007. At the end of the 2007 productive season, the two Intralox belts showed all the signs of excellent abrasion resistance: reduced lengthening and negligible wear on the belt and sprockets point to an average service life of eight to 10 working seasons, which is four or five times longer than the service life of belts previously used. The Company plans to extend the Intralox solution to other similar applications within its factory.
