Seminar on Karl Fischer Titration in Singapore

Dated: 28 April 2008

Sigma-Aldrich will be hosting Hydranal Karl Fischer Titration Technical Seminar on the 13th May 2008 at Intercontinental Singapore Hotel, Singapore.

This is a technical seminar targeted at industry customers who handle moisture content analysis.

Seminar includes the following three lectures:
1. Basics of Karl Fischer Titration. This is dedicated to basic procedures and corresponding reagents, equations and the influence of pH.
2. Variation of basics procedures focusing on problematic samples and unique applications.
3. Practical tips for the daily routine moisture content analysis gives an insight on titre determination, influence of drift and sample handling.

There will also be a hands-on workshop on the operation of the Karl Fischer Titrator instrument.

This will be conducted by Metrohm Singapore Pte Ltd and Mettler- Toledo (S) Pte Ltd.

Karl Fischer titration is used by analytical specialists to investigate the water content in products such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, oils, fats, polymers, cosmetics, foodstuffs and sweets.

The Karl Fischer titration has also long been prescribed as the standard method of analysis by the leading Pharmacopoeias, like the European (Ph. Eur), the United States (USP) and the Japanese (JP).

Water content determination is mandatory for many materials used in the manufacture of medicines. Moisture content measurement is usually a stand-alone technique, but users may also employ other analytical techniques.

Moisture content will be measured if the manufacturing process or the product performance or shelf-life is influenced by moisture.
