New Delhi-based TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) says it did not fi nd any evidence of pesticides at Coca Cola’s facilities in India. The nonprofi t research organization says that none of the bottler’s facilties in Kaladera, Mehndiganj, Pirangut, Sathupalle, Nemam, or Nabipur tested positive. Last year, a study by the Center for Science and Environment (CSE) said that 57 samples of 11 soft drink brands, from 25 different Coca Cola and PepsiCo manufacturing plants contained pesticide residues—an average of 24 times higher than the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) norms.

Net sales for second quarter 2008 were EUR 5.8 billion, down 0.8% from the same period last year. At constant exchange rates, net sales increased by 7.3%.
Despite the credit crunch, drinks giant, Diageo reports another year of strong organic growth with net sales up 7% and operating profit up 9%. Sales rose to £8.09bn up from £7.48bn last year while sales volumes increased by about 3%.
