Wrigley awarded American Dental Association's Seal of Acceptance for gums

Dated: 5 October 2007

Wrigley's ability to provide oral health benefits have earned Wrigley’s Orbit, Extra and Eclipse sugar-free chewing gums the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Seal of Acceptance.

According to the ADA, Wrigley is the first chewing gum manufacturer to earn this recognition.

This is because Orbit, Extra and Eclipse have been clinically proven to help fight cavities, strengthen teeth and reduce harmful plaque acids, said Wrigley.

The not-for-profit ADA is the nation’s largest dental association and its decision was made after a thorough analysis of nearly 20 years’ worth of independent scientific research.

The ADA's Seal of Acceptance has been a symbol of safety and effectiveness for more than 75 years and other products that have been awarded include toothpastes and mouth rinses.

From November, packaging for these gums will feature the ADA Seal.
