Based on principles of ayurveda—the ancient Indian system of preventive healthcare—Nestlé’s Maggi Healthy Soup Sanjeevni range features traditional recipes for good health. The product is made with “time-tested ingredients” like spinach, dal, tomato and amla (an edible fruit native to India containing a bitter or sour taste that is highly prized for its potent vitamin-C content). Low in fat and cholesterol, the instant dry soup is suitable for vegetarians, challenging the notion that convenience is not equated with health or nutrition. A packet sells for $0.18.
