Hanson Technologies’ system screens fresh produce for pathogens

Hanson Technologies has released a system that reportedly detects pathogens in fresh-cut produce without culturing.

The food-and-beverage safety technology solutions company says the HSVS-1000 solution was unveiled at Food Safety and Security Summit Expo & Conference and “can simultaneously screen for multiple pathogens, allergens and toxins, including E coli O157:H7 and salmonella”.

"This sets a new standard in food safety by reducing the screening window from 12 to 36 hours down to just two hours," explains William Hanson, PhD, CEO of Hanson Technologies.

The HSVS-1000 screens field-sampled vegetables prior to harvest, wash water used during processing operations, and fresh-cut produce prior to packing and shipping.
