Ecolab says it can reduce microbial contamination on ready-to-eat meat products with Octa-Gone, a fatty acid-based antimicrobial product.
Octa-Gone uses an application point that applies the product at the last possible moment in the packaging process of RTE products like luncheon meats and deli, eliminating the possibility of post-treatment contamination.
“It’s effective against microbial pathogens without affecting the color, flavor or appearance of the RTE meat product,” says John Tengwall, vice president of Food and Beverage at Ecolab. “And it’s approved as a processing aid by the USDA, therefore no additive labeling is required for the processors.”
