Walnuts promote satiety and weight loss

It’s no secret that walnuts lower cholesterol. But now researchers at Linda Loma University say they’ve cracked the code to hunger. Eating 4-6 walnut halves before meals reportedly help people feel fuller. “Substituting walnuts for other calories may lead to improvements in other indicators of health, such as decreased weight gain and LDL cholesterol levels,” explains Joan Sabate, MD, MPH, DrPH, chair and professor of nutrition, department of nutrition, Loma Linda University School of Public Health.
